The Stapelstein® elements have now become an integral part of our classroom, regularly used by the children. They are stored in the middle of our fixed seating circle and are accessible to the children at any time. During the breakfast break, the children like to use the Stapelsteine as seating options. They use the Stapelstein® Originals as stools and our benches as tables. Even in a cinema semicircle in front of the board, when important teaching content is discussed, the children use the elements as seating options.
In this classroom, as part of "Flexible Seating," children are allowed to choose their own seat. The Stapelstein® elements then offer another seating option during the work phase and support learning at individual workstations (at small tables, in the hallway, on the benches).
In German lessons, the children learn syllable walking with the help of the Stapelstein® Originals. The words are divided into syllables, and the children hear the number of syllables in the words while speaking. In syllable walking, the children walk the number of syllables. For example, if a word consists of three syllables, the children must walk the word in three steps.
For further work in math lessons, it is planned that the children will form quantities using the Stapelstein® elements. One element represents a quantity (e.g., the quantity 1), then the elements are stacked into a tower, and a larger quantity is formed (7 elements = the quantity 7; 7-element tower).
We are very grateful that we can use the Stapelstein® elements in our classroom and will certainly order more in the future.
