The power of monomaterial

The power of monomaterial

At Stapelstein®, we are committed not only to reducing our resource consumption but also to ensuring that our products can undergo a closed-loop process, actively promoting the circular economy. Our Stapelstein® EPP elements are manufactured locally in Germany, near Chemnitz, and are free of harmful substances. Our partner production facility relies on innovative and energy-efficient processes, uses renewable energy through its own solar system, and has a TÜV-certified energy and environmental management system (ISO 50001:2018; ISO 14001:2015). We think holistically and plan from the beginning for the end of a product. Since the very first hour of Stapelstein®, we have been focusing on recyclability and circular product development.

Sustainable innovation with monomaterial EPP

Unlike conventional elements made from a variety of materials, Stapelstein® products are made from monomaterial. This innovative approach allows us to bypass complex separation processes in recycling and seamlessly reintegrate the elements into the production cycle. This promotes the circular economy and reduces environmental impact.

EPP – stable, durable, sustainable

The choice of EPP as the material for our Stapelstein® elements was made after thorough material research and testing of various prototypes. EPP has proven to be the only material that meets legal requirements and all essential factors for us. EPP combines lightness and stability, is durable, and environmentally friendly. The production process of EPP requires less energy compared to other plastics, leading to a lower environmental impact.

A cycle that never ends

Thanks to the uniform mono-material, all Stapelstein® elements can be fully recycled at the end of their lifecycle – provided they return to the recycling loop. And this is where you come in.

If elements can no longer be used after many years of use, our Stapelstein® take-back program ensures that they do not end up in household waste. Instead, the collected elements are processed into reusable EPP raw material, which flows back into the production process.

This means that all Stapelstein® elements are recyclable – and have been since the beginning of the Stapelstein® history.

To return elements to the production cycle, please contact us with your order number at hi@stapelstein.de. This way, you will receive a free return label from us.

Do you have contacts who can support us in optimizing the cycle? Feel free to write to us at hi@stapelstein.de!
