The power of monomaterial

The power of monomaterial

At Stapelstein®, we are committed to using materials responsibly and conserving resources. Our goal is for our products to be able to go through a closed loop, allowing us to actively promote the circular economy.

Our Stapelstein® EPP elements are manufactured locally in Germany, near Chemnitz, and are tested for safety and freedom from harmful substances by independent bodies such as 'Spiel Gut.' Our partner production facility relies on energy-efficient processes, uses electricity from its own solar installation, and has a TÜV-certified energy and environmental management system (ISO 50001:2018; ISO 14001:2015).

We think holistically and plan for a product’s end right from the beginning. That is why, since the very beginning of Stapelstein®, we have focused on circularity and circular product development.

Circular design with EPP monomaterial

Unlike conventional elements made from a variety of materials, Stapelstein® products are made from a single material. This innovative approach allows us to avoid complex separation processes during recycling and seamlessly reintegrate the elements back into the production cycle. In this way, we promote the circular economy and reduce our resource consumption.

EPP – stable, durable, resource-conserving

The choice of EPP as the material for our Stapelstein® elements was made after thorough research and testing of various prototypes. EPP combines lightness with enormous stability (supporting loads of up to 180 kg), enabling an extremely long service life. In addition, the production process, steam expansion, requires significantly less material compared to the manufacture of solid plastic products.

100% recyclable through our free take-back program

Thanks to the uniform monomaterial, all Stapelstein® elements can be 100% recycled at the end of their life cycle—provided they are returned to the material cycle through our take-back program. And this is where you come in.

If elements can no longer be used after many years of use (e.g. due to severe weathering or wear), our take-back program ensures that they do not end up in household waste. Together with specialized recycling partners such as General Industries, the collected elements are processed into reusable EPP raw material, which then flows back into production.

How it works: To return old elements to the production cycle, simply send us an email with your order number and a short description of their condition to hi@stapelstein.de. After review, we will send you a free return label. Feel free to use a box you already have at home for this.

As a thank you, you will receive a 5% discount code for your next order after successful shipment.

Do you have contacts who can support us in optimizing circularity? Feel free to write to us as well at hi@stapelstein.de!
